Agricultural Mobile Irrigation Lab Technician

The MIL Technician, under the direction of the MIL Team Leader, evaluates the performance of a wide variety of irrigation systems, by taking measurements and by making observations of the system.


The job requires regular and recurring physical exertion related to conservation work requiring walking on rough terrain, walking on slick, muddied, or manure/sledge areas, jumping furrows, climbing steep banks and fences, crouching under low, thorny trees, etc.


Mobile Irrigation Lab Technician - Qualifications
Associates degree is preferred, but not required. A high school diploma and a minimum 2 years of experience with agriculture or irrigation systems may be substituted for the Associates degree. A full background check and fingerprinting will be a pre-requisite to obtain the MIL Technician position.

The person in this position will be driving a company vehicle during working hours so a valid driver's license is required.


Technician Duties
a. Provide technical assistance during in-field evaluations and follow-ups as prescribed by the MIL Technical Handbook.
b. Take direction from MIL Team Leader.
c. Provide field notes to Team Leader for reports.
d. Demonstrate basic computer skills to produce Irrigation Water Management Reports for the Agricultural clients. Be efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
e. Assist with scheduling of evaluations with agricultural producers. Maintaining an active Waiting List in standing order with MIL Database.
f. Ability to read and create location maps.
g. Keep company vehicle in safe operating and clean condition. Operate motor vehicle both on and off-road. Must maintain valid Florida Driver License AND ability to be insured.
