Brownsboro Park Retirement Community is looking to add a new team member to our Activities Department as a Van and Shuttle. This is a weekend only position, both Saturday and Sunday, with some potential to fill in on weekdays during vacations and requested time off for other full-time staff. This position works primarily as a van and shuttle driver along with some specific responsibilities involving weekend activities in and/or out of the building. Experience: Prior experience in related driving positions and city knowledge required.

General Responsibilities

Duties include operating and maintaining transportation vehicles with a focus on safety and resident courtesy; performing daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; performing minor maintenance tasks on the vehicles when necessary; fueling the vehicles; ensuring that periodic scheduled vehicle maintenance is completed and reported; documenting resident usage; preparing trip routes and scheduling drop-off and pick-up arrangements; preparing accident and incident reports as necessary; assisting residents and guests in and out of the vehicle; providing safety briefing to residents; and providing other services as requested by management when not engaged in transportation service. Responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste, and fraud.

Standard Requirements

1. Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of Brownsboro Park and the facility.

2. Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

3. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:

a. Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.

b. Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.

c. Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

d. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

4. Supports and participates in respectful common teamwork:

a. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.

b. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.

c. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.

d. Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.

e. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Task List

1. Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner while maintaining defensive driving.

2. Provides a communication link between residents, staff, and management.

3. Prepare van for residents by operating doors and securement devices as needed.

4. Reads and interprets maps, road signs, and driving directions to plan the most efficient routes for residents.

5. Presents safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure.

6. Keeps the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.

7. Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management.

8. Performs minor maintenance tasks and fuels the assigned vehicle(s) as required.

9. Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions.

10. Responds immediately to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and staying in contact with management until emergency personnel arrive.

11. Performs such other duties as may be required.

 

Other Duties

1. Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.

Job Location

Common areas, local destinations throughout Louisville and off locations as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
