Job DescriptionJob Description

Busy adult and pediatric ophthalmologist office is seeking a skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will assist ophthalmologists in providing quality eye care to patients. Your role will involve performing various diagnostic tests, obtaining patient medical histories, and providing support during eye examinations.

Duties:
- Perform preliminary eye function testing, including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and visual field tests
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry, pachymetry, and corneal topography
- Assist with contact lens fittings and provide instructions on lens insertion and removal
- Prepare patients for surgery by cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on proper eye care techniques and post-operative care instructions

Skills:
- Proficient in aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology
- Experience with optical equipment such as autorefractors, keratometers, and slit lamps
- Ability to accurately measure intraocular pressure using tonometry
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients in a compassionate manner
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation of patient information
