We are looking to hire an HR Assistant in East Compton, CA This is a contract to hire opportunity to join our HR Department.
Schedule: 8am- 4:30pm +OT (Monday-Friday)
Pay: $19-21/hour
Position Summary: Performs Human Resources related duties and may carry out responsibilities in some or all the following functional areas: HRIS data input, training, recruiting, employee relations, engagement, benefits, and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work on a variety of special projects and implementation of business unit and HR policies and programs.
- Assist with data entry for HR-related tasks such as onboarding, training, labor and attendance, payroll, etc.
- Answers and directs departmental phone calls Sorting and stuffing paychecks and labor vouchers
- Schedules and organizes appointments; takes minutes as requested
- Proofreads and types documents and correspondence produced by department
- Processes required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters
- May assist with preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports
- Assists with department purchases, including price comparison, ordering, receiving and distributing items
- Assists with employee engagement events and activities, including preparation, setup and tear down
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GE, is required
- Two years of administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities
- Team player with a strong client service orientation
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), email and internet
- Excellent customer service skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to multi-task, learn, problem solve, prioritize, set, and attain goals, and work independently
- Bilingual in Spanish (read, speak, write) is strongly desired
