Field Engineer - Compressor Overhaul and Support

Job Summary: The Field Engineer provides essential field support and startup assistance to customers, along with service branch support. Key responsibilities include failure analysis of returned parts, traveling to customer sites for troubleshooting, and snapshot analysis. This role also involves providing technical support and on-site startup assistance for a range of control and monitoring products, and leading compressor overhaul projects.
Salary: $70k - $120k per year depending on experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to inquiries and reports from the field regarding reciprocating compressors.
- Perform inspections and failure analysis on returned parts, maintaining records of causes and corrective actions.
- Generate external reports as needed.
- Assist in generating project documentation and provide on-site support for projects.
- Conduct snapshot analyses and communicate results to customers.
- Identify and specify upgrades to enhance compressor reliability.
- Travel as required, approximately 50% to 60% of the time.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Skills:
- Basic mechanical and electrical skills.
- Familiarity with tools and safe work practices.
- Basic understanding of reciprocating machinery, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
- Technical writing ability, with proficiency in writing detailed reports that present observations, discuss technical issues, evaluate options, and make recommendations.
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in machinery condition monitoring.
- Aptitude for mechanical systems for commissioning and troubleshooting assignments.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, hear, speak, and view processes and surroundings.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to low and medium voltage electrical systems.
- Occasionally exposed to high noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Fieldwork may involve working outside in industrial environments for extended periods.
