Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Location: Atlanta, GA

Job Summary: As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in providing direct patient care and support to veterans under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and other healthcare professionals. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting patients with activities of daily living, monitoring and recording vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to implement patient care plans and contribute to maintaining a therapeutic and supportive environment for veterans.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct patient care under the supervision of RNs and healthcare providers.
  2. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
  3. Monitor and record patient vital signs, intake and output measurements, and other relevant health data.
  4. Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and positioning, using proper lifting and safety techniques.
  5. Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times, responding promptly to patient needs and requests.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement and maintain patient care plans.
  7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas and equipment.
  8. Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  9. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families as needed.
  10. Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 1 year of experience working in a hospital setting 
  • Successful completion of a state-approved CNA certification program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Georgia.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach during shifts.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
