Job Summary:

Carries out all responsibilities and implements management operating policies related to packaging, awarding, monitoring, and communicating Day School students’ comprehensive financial aid packages.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Implements a student centered approach to developing, implementing and communicating all Day School student financial aid packages. This includes all institutional aid, state and federal grants, loans, outside scholarships and any other form of aid included in an award package. Works closely with the IT and business office staff to ensure student communication is accurate, timely and relevant. Takes the lead in identifying issues and develops policies to improve the process when needed. Ensures that the University’s use of funds is in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

· Works closely with admissions office to determine the most effective way to market financial aid offerings at Drury through a financial aid brochure, updated and accurate website, attending events throughout the year, the online and printed financial aid package and other areas as necessary.

· Responsible for all peripheral financial aid duties and executes management policies related to current student financial aid consistent with departmental policies. This includes but is not limited to making decisions on appeals, verification, loans, persistence to graduation, and probationary issues with transfers when needed.

· Identifies trends, data and information to assist administration in making well informed decisions. Develops and implements procedures for ensuring accurate students records/documentation for each financial aid program according to federal/state regulations.

· Serves as a partner for other departments on campus involved in financial aid including but not limited to Athletics, Music, Art, Theater and Debate.

· Other duties as assigned.

· College degree and 1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Ability to utilize software related to enrollment and financial aid, a personal computer, and related Microsoft Office software.

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret federal and state regulations, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints and communicate effectively with customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

· Ability to develop reports for publication that conform to the college’s publication policies and the prescribed style and format.

· Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to set objectives, develop plans, and organize and prioritize tasks to meet objectives in a timely manner.

· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

· Must have a working knowledge of drug conviction laws.

· Must have a working knowledge of tax laws.

· Must be able to supervise and motivate staff to achieve department objectives.

Education and Experience:

  • College degree and 1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities for a student worker in accordance with the college's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
