JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Chess Tournament Director (TD) to join our team. The successful candidate will be providing onsite tournament directing at the Temecula Chess Club. The TD will be arranging matches, tracking scores, and assisting with player sign-ups for events. Training will be provided, if necessary.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Organizes and directs chess tournaments for Temecula Chess Club.
  • Arranges matches, tracks scores, and assists with player engagement as needed.
  • Processes and submits tournaments for rating in US Chess Federation as needed.
  • Trouble shoots onsite concerns during tournaments.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledgeable on the basic rules of chess.
  • Experience in organizing events and availability to work evenings and weekend days, as needed.
  • Excellent research, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with chess software a strong plus.
  • A thorough understanding of the importance of collaboration, emotional intelligence, and diversity, equity, and inclusion values.
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with a team.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Compensation ranges from $25 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.
