Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Minimum of three years previous medical billing experience. Epic software and Cardiology experience preferred.

Education: AAPC Certified. preferred however not mandatory.  High school diploma.

Pay: Hourly based on experience, industry standards, and skills acquired while employed with Academic Cardiology Associates, PC.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside of the organization.

Other Skills: Computer/electronic medical record knowledge. Work may require sitting/standing for long periods of time. Knowledge of collection laws/guidelines. Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 coding. Insurance precertification guidelines. It is necessary to work in a fast-paced environment which can be very stressful.

 

Academic Cardiology is a seven provider office located in Rochester Hills. This position is onsite only. We also have a full testing area to include Nuclear, Echo, & Vascular testing. Candidate will be required to work in a "team" environment along with four additional full time billers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Answer and return patient phone calls pertaining to patient balances. Speaks with patients in-office if questions arise on outstanding balances.

2. Answer and return phone calls to insurance carrier(s) regarding claims questions.

3. Transmission of electronic claims.

4. Post patient and insurance checks, credit card payments, or cash to appropriate patient accounts.

5. Obtain prior insurance authorizations for procedures/office visits to be performed in the hospital or office.

6. Work rejection reports/denials.

10 Accounts Receivable – work outstanding accounts and make telephone calls as necessary.

11 Sets up payment arrangements on delinquent accounts

12 Works with collection agency on delinquent accounts. Pursues legal action in small claims court on balances greater than $1000.00.

13 Processes patient statements with outside vendor.

14 Balances all deposits made for day/month.

15 Performs additional tasks as assigned by Office Manager/Physician(s).
