Here at Master Millwork, we specialize in high-end custom millwork projects for Senior Living, Multi-Unit Apartments & Hotels throughout the Greater Boston Area and New England. We also provide high-end architectural millwork design packages for Restaurants, Nightclubs, Libraries and Schools. The residential casework estimator role requires the ability to gather accurate information from construction documents (floor plans / elevations / details / specifications) to create cost estimate proposals for large-scale residential construction projects. This role would specifically deal with the cabinet/casework scope of work that is found within our projects. The ideal candidate would have prior experience in the construction/cabinet industry, be organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.

NOTE: Entry-level candidates may also be considered. Salary and benefits would be based on industry knowledge and previous experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural drawings and specifications to identify cabinet/casework scope of work. Must have some familiarity with reviewing contract drawings and specifications. (Training will be provided for entry-level candidates).
  • Prepare cabinet takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Excel (or similar estimating programs) for review with department lead / senior estimator.
  • Become familiar with Master Millwork’s catalog of available cabinet types / finishes / hardware / construction details. Familiarity with stock cabinet line catalogs and cabinet type designations is beneficial.
  • Prepare formal proposal documents in Microsoft Excel for submission to clients.
  • While this is not a requirement, the optimal candidate would have the capability to get involved with drafting (CAD) and order management aspects, once we are awarded a project
  • Reviews bid requirements thoroughly, asks follow-up questions as needed, and documents response.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the scope for specific material and labor requirements.
  • Performs a comprehensive final analysis and scoping of project prior to bid submission.
  • Double-checks all critical work deliverables to minimize mistakes.
  • Creates bid lists that fit scope of job.
  • Includes value-engineering ideas wherever possible.
  • Identifies creative ways to deliver additional profit if possible.
  • Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications:

-Familiarity with reviewing architectural and interior design construction drawings and specifications

-Experience with the following computer programs (or similar): Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam Revu

– (AutoCAD or 20-20 Design experience is a plus)

-Role requires an organized individual with attention to detail -Role requires the ability to work as part of a team

High school diploma or equivalent.

· Secondary education degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

· Five years of experience soliciting vendor quotes in an architectural or construction environment with strong knowledge of woodworking industry.

· Experience in using estimating software.

· Ability to assess bid opportunities and maintain productive client communications.

· Experience in Estimating Change Orders; creating schedules utilizing state-of-the-art software

· Strong team player abilities and experience, with the ability to coordinate work on multiple facets of a project.

· Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and other software used in the construction industry.

· A “Push” personality - biased toward action - constantly striving to be the best.

· Ability to analyze and track projects from origination to award.

· Excellent planning, communication, and analytic skills.
