Journeyman Electrician- Foreman Job description

A Foreman shall:

1)      Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.

2)      Review electrical engineering drawings and refer issues requiring changes. Coordinate with General Electrical Superintendent and project manager.

3)      Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications, safety codes and local electrical codes.

4)      Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.

5)      Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels; installs Buss, Busbar, electrical feeders, power systems and/or switchgear.

6)      Coordinate work with Purchasing to ensure that requested material is expedited and received as needed for the construction of project. Minimize purchasing of materials. Plan ahead.

7)      All materials shall be ordered and shipped to the project / job site. Foremen, journeymen shall NOT drive to the supply house for materials unless. It has been authorized by the general superintendent, and or project manager. There shall be NO exceptions to this directive.

8)      Ensure all installations meet quality and electrical code standards.

9)      Make daily, weekly schedules for proper manpower utilization.

10)  Coordinate production and attend meetings with other trades and the general contractor to identify and resolve any conflicts

11)  Ability to identify potential discrepancies (change orders) in the drawings and relay the information clearly to management.

12)  Ability to attend, represent Core Electrical Group and be involved in general contractor scheduling meetings.

13)  Ability to assist Project Manager prepare construction schedules.

14)  Complete basic paperwork (i.e., foreman logs, performance evaluations, purchase order logs, time cards, etc.) in a timely manner and as required by CEG.

15)  Repairs faulty equipment or systems.

16)  Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.

17)  Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

18)  Obtain, organize, and manage materials effectively and develop as built documentation.

19)  Maintain a current, up to date set of as-built drawings for billing and close-out purposes.

20)  Establish expectations and motivates crews to consistently meet or beat goals.

21)  Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.

22)  Always Abides by Core electric Group (CEG) safety policy.

23)  Always abides by site / project safety policy.

24)  Assist in enforcing CEG safety policy.

25)  Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.

 

 

Requirements and qualifications:

1)      High School Diploma or General Education Degree

2)      MUST have current State of Texas Issued Journeyman or Master Electrician’s License. MUST be kept current.

3)      OSHA 30-hour

4)      Must possess valid driver’s license

5)      Must be able to pass drug and background check.

6)      Ability to multitask while staying organized

7)      Strong verbal and written communications skills

8)      Positive customer service skills

9)      Familiar with the Electrical industry standards and codes.

10)  OSHA 30 certification.

11)  Computer knowledge.

12)  Ability to mentor in a positive way.
