DURATION   : 13–Week Contact with Possible Extension

LOCATION    : Brick,  NJ 08724   

SHIFT             : 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday

Pay Rate        : $19 - $24 Per Hour on W2

 

Job Descriptions:

Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in providing clinical care to select patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner and provides clerical office assistance.

Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):

1.       Prepares exam room, treatment room, supplies and instruments.

2.      Prepares patients for physician visits and examinations assisting as directed.

3.      Takes patient’s vital signs and records in the medical chart.

4.      Understand proper function and care of special equipment.

5.      Performs EKG, PFT, Audiometry, and Titmus Test as indicated after a performance evaluation checklist completion.

6.      Also performs UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab testing as indicated after performance evaluation checklist completion.

7.      Maintains records by completing patient records as directed and filing records and reports.

8.      Assists with collections/billing procedures as needed.

9.      Uses computer software to maintain office systems.

10.   Identifies and responds to issues of confidentiality.

11.    Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). 

12.   This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).

13.   Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

14.   Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

15.   Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes, and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

 1.      Excellent communication skills

2.      Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with varying populations.

3.      Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

4.      Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry               

Required Certification/Licensing:

1.       CMA-NHA (National Health Career Association)

2.      CMA-NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)

3.      CMA-AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)

4.      RMA-AMT (American Medical Technologists)

5.      RMA-NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)

6.      AMCA (American Medical Certification Association)

7.      NCMA (National Certification Medical Association)

Education Required:

High School diploma or equivalent such as a GED                  

Education Preferred:

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
