Job DescriptionJob Description

The Quality Inspector is responsible for reviewing products and materials during manufacturing to make sure they meet company requirements in a high paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and thoroughly inspect electro-mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, circuit boards, and components through in-process and final inspection.
  • Address priorities under time constraints.
  • Use Automated optical inspection (AOI) and X-ray machine.
  • Complete and ensure inspection documents are kept current.
  • Inspect components, boards, and other items from the Surface-mount Technology (SMT) department.
  • Review and certify ATP documents and data.
  • Complete and assist with First Article Inspections (FAI) and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) per AS9102 as required.
  • Conduct conventional inspection to engineering requirements using height gauges, calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and standard inspection methods.
  • Understand the proper use and handling of calibrated equipment.
  • Inspect and sort material as part of nonconforming material containment.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines/procedures to perform the functions of the job.
  • Complies with and ensures department compliance with Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Complies with all applicable export control and security regulations.
  • Support positive corrective actions and identification of root cause.
  • Perform and complete internal containment activity of identified non-conformances.
  • Act as Source Inspector and create source request documents.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-process and final inspection experience within the defense industry.
  • Understand Accepted Quality Limits (AQL), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Key Characteristics (KC).
  • Knowledge of Surface Mount Technology inspection.
  • Experience reading technical drawings, specifications, manufacturing work instructions, inspection procedures, and configuration control of documents.
  • First Article Inspection (FAI), First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), IPC standards, J-STD and Mil-Spec inspection experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to foster productive working relationships.
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives.
  • Must be detail oriented organized, and self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of basic problem solving tools ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
  • Ability to process and analyze technical and business information.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills (verbal & written), ability to interact via telephone & email with co-workers & suppliers.
  • Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-30 pounds.
  • Ability to remain seated for up to 5 hours at a time.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent from a vocational school or 5 years related experience and/or training.

Experience: 1-3 years of electronics inspection experience preferred

  • Solid experience and understanding of IPC, J-STD, and Mil-Spec inspection methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and ERP
  • Active IPC-610 and IPC-620 experience certifications preferred.

Security: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and may be required to obtain a security clearance.
