Job Summary: As a veterinary assistant, you will work closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide quality care for animals. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, handling and restraining animals, maintaining cleanliness in the clinic, and providing support to both clients and veterinary staff.
Responsibilities:
Animal Handling and Restraint: Safely and compassionately handle animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures. Use proper restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both the animal and veterinary staff.
Assistance in Medical Procedures: Prepare examination rooms and surgical suites for procedures. Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, surgeries, and laboratory procedures. Prepare and sterilize equipment and instruments.
Patient Care: Monitor the condition and behavior of animals before, during, and after procedures. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinary staff. Provide basic care such as feeding, grooming, and exercising hospitalized animals.
Client Communication: Communicate with pet owners regarding patient care instructions, medication administration, and post-procedure care. Assist with client inquiries, scheduling appointments, and relaying messages to veterinary staff.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all areas within the clinic, including examination rooms, kennels, and surgical suites. Perform regular cleaning tasks such as mopping floors, disinfecting surfaces, and laundering linens.
Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by monitoring supplies, restocking medications and equipment, and placing orders as needed. Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and expiration dates
