SUMMARY
A solid-dose chemist is responsible for several key functions; they manage the procurement of raw materials, conduct laboratory trials according to specified formulations, and provide support in both formulation and process development. This role requires a blend of scientific expertise and collaborative skills to effectively contribute to the advancement of solid-dose medications.
Essential Responsibilities
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work — Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
- Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Using computers and computer systems to enter data or process information.
- Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Purchase laboratory supplies, such as chemicals, when supplies are low or near their expiration date.
- Study effects of various methods of processing
- Develop, improve, or customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, or analytical methods.
- Prepare test samples for laboratory personnel to conduct tests.
- Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed.

- Must maintain an excellent attendance record including on-time arrival.
- Must be able to perform basic administrative duties with a high level of accuracy (e.g., data entry, file maintenance including alphabetizing and numerical sorting, typing, etc.)

- Knowledge of general business best practices
Technical Skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must have good visual/organoleptic alertness, and aseptic techniques in testing the products.
- Knowledge of operation of basic analytical instrumentation, thermometer, pH-meter, viscometer, balance, and moisture balance, and perform the necessary calculations.
- Knowledge of vitamins and nutritional ingredients.
Education, Experience & Licensure
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or any related science
Language Skills
Must exhibit a strong proficiency in the English language, with the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and succinctly in both verbal and written forms. Additionally, must possess excellent reading comprehension skills.
Mathematical Skills
Must be able to analyze and present quantitative data. Able to accurately compute basic mathematical equations such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages.
