Telecom CAD Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed drawings, plans and schematics using computer-aided design software for a variety of telecommunication projects. They are to assist the engineering staff with the preparation of Outside Plant maps and other miscellaneous drawings. These drawings form the foundation for broadband network construction. Will be responsible for reporting required information to various state and federal agencies.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

·         Create detailed drawings and plans using CAD software.

·         Collaborate with engineers and designers to produce accurate drawings.

·         Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.

·         Revise and update drawings as required.

·         Maintain and organize CAD files and documents.

·         Perform daily tasks of inserting various types of data into GIS databases, such as texts or spreadsheet files that contain longitude and latitude coordinates, aerial or satellite imagery, tabular data, and digitizing paper maps or map images manually, and/or KML/KMZ Files.

·         Create maps for internal purposes and participate in the launching and supporting of online and mobile maps for public, State and Federal consumption.

·         Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress reports.

·         OSP staking.

·         Create staking sheets for related project(s) and to serve as a pre-post to Company’s records.

·         Order package preparation including but not limited to field notes, cut sheets, schematics, and acquiring permits and private rights-of-way.

·         Entering data in an approved mapping software system

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

·         Minimum of associate’s degree from accredited institution in CAD/GIS or a related discipline.

·         Associate or bachelor’s degree in drafting, engineering, or related field.

·         A minimum of two years’ direct work experience in CAD/GIS and database management may be considered as a substitute for a degree.

·         Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar software

·         Experience in CAD drafting.

·         Experience with using and manipulating Object Data inside of CAD.

·         Understanding of GIS Programs/Shape files

·         Good understanding of creating and editing blocks and layers.

·         Strong attention to detail and accuracy

·         Excellent communication and teamwork skills

·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·         Knowledge of telecom engineering and construction principles

·         Understanding of industry standards and regulations
