Marketing & Communications Associate

Job Title: Marketing & Communications Associate

Reports To: VP of Marketing & Communications

FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

The African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs (“Alliance”) seeks a dedicated and innovative Marketing & Communications Associate to champion the Alliance’s vision at the national level. The M&C Associate will be responsible for amplifying our online presence, enhancing our digital marketing strategies, and creating compelling content to engage our target audience.

The M&C Associate will lead our content development, copywriting and will collaborate with various departments to implement digital promotional activities, with a focus on storytelling in a way that promotes our business, values, and mission. This position is full-time and reports to the VP of Marketing & Communications.

Candidates for this role should possess stellar writing skills and a proven track record in executing marketing content strategies and managing a robust social media portfolio. We are looking for a team-oriented, energetic, organized, innovative, and self-driven person to be a part of our dynamic marketing and communications department.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Content Development

  • Ghostwrite, edit, and publish articles on behalf of the Alliance.
  • Develop and distribute bi-monthly newsletters, identify and craft member success stories and testimonials.
  • Develop engaging monthly social media content by managing editorial calendar and scheduling via Hootsuite and coordinating with our graphic designer.
  • Craft thought-leadership statements to support our advocacy efforts.
  • Manage internal marketing inquiries and assist in the development of materials for various departments.
  • Develop content for presentations, events, flyers, and other assets as needed.
  • Support in implementing Public Relations and Media plan, drafting press releases, media pitches, and other PR materials.

Digital Marketing & Social Media Management

  • Implement the Alliance's Influencer engagement strategy in 2025, as well as curate and manage the Alliance’s digital contact and influencer list.
  • Manage the organization’s social media calendar and craft engaging posts monthly, as well as managing the organization’s social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) ensuring the content resonates with the overarching marketing narrative and the organization’s mission.
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy for The Alliance.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in social media and digital marketing and adapt strategies accordingly to optimize the Alliance's online presence.
  • Consistently monitor and produce reports on our website, social media and digital engagement, furnishing monthly insights.

DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent writing skills, with emphasis on writing and editing blogs and social media content.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube.)
  • Proficient in content management systems (WordPress) and email marketing platforms (MailChimp).
  • Intermediate level understanding of SEO principles, Google Analytics, and digital advertising platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads).
  • Experience in working on Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Experience in execution of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Aptitude in presentation and public speaking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines on time and strong attention to detail.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, or related field
  • At least 2-4 years of experience in marketing or communications
  • Proven experience as marketing and communications associate or similar position
  • Highly qualified candidates will have a passion for equity-focused non-profit organizations and a baseline knowledge of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and the ecosystem that supports the industry
