Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation:
    Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Ensure that estimates are aligned with project specifications and client expectations.

  • Bid Preparation:
    Develop comprehensive bid proposals based on cost estimates. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure that all aspects of the project are considered and accurately reflected in the bid.

  • Project Analysis:
    Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to understand the full scope of work. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide input on value engineering.

  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
    Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors. Select the most qualified and cost-effective options to include in the overall project estimate.

  • Risk Assessment:
    Identify and evaluate potential risks that could impact project costs and timelines. Develop strategies to mitigate these risks and ensure that estimates remain accurate and reliable.

  • Cost Tracking and Reporting:
    Monitor actual project costs against estimates throughout the project lifecycle. Provide regular reports to project managers and adjust estimates as needed to reflect changes in project scope or market conditions.

  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure that estimates are consistent with project goals and requirements. Participate in project meetings and provide ongoing support to ensure project success.

  • Market Research:
    Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, labor rates, and other factors that could impact construction costs. Adjust estimating strategies accordingly to ensure competitiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or equivalent.
  • Experience estimating for commercial, residential, and specialty construction projects.
  • Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and green building certifications.
