Spears Manufacturing headquartered in Sylmar California, a world leader in the manufacturing and distribution of plastic valves, fittings and pipe since 1969. Due to our companies continued growth we are currently are looking for the right individual for the position of Manufacturing Manager, Plant Operational Engineer. This is a first-in, last to leave position with a national privately owned, zero-debt company that has in excess of 26 plants, manufacturing, tooling, and distribution centers throughout the United States.
The pay will be commensurate with the individual’s experience and skill level.
This opportunity is at our Spears Corporate Manufacturing facility in Sylmar, California. We have an immediate opening for the position of Manufacturing Manager, Engineer Plant Operations to run our PVC / CPVC Operations companywide. Coordinating multiple manufacturing sites and distribution centers (24)
The right candidate will train in all functions of production, raw materials to finished products, Spears produces and catalogs over 150,000 parts, meeting & exceeding ASTM, NSF requirements.
This is a Hands-On position, manufacturing floor position, mentoring and training, directing staff companywide to complete work orders, tasks, correctly, safely, and in a timely fashion.
Direct Reporting to the Chief Engineer Operations Manager
This position will be mentored by the Chief Engineer Operations Manager, daily shadowing and grooming, learning the Spears way.
The pay will be commensurate with the individual’s experience and skill level.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate and govern that Spears Standards are globally uniform
• Work across multiple facilities to ensure expectations are clear, communicate and simplify as needed for compliance
• Follow safe work practices and maintain a clean working environment, Ensure that all Spears products meet/ exceed quality standards and inspection
• Correct preparation of parts/pipe, Check work orders/ quality standards to correspond
• Coordinate basic repair and maintenance of machines
• Delegate and monitor results, review and follow-up or follow through
• Mechanical knowledge required to Set up machines, extruders, understanding hydraulics, temperatures, timers, and pressures, all principals of manufacturing
• Spears Manufacturing is an all under one roof company that fabricates, maintains, modifies, all tooling, molds, all equipment for all locations
• Spears is not looking for an office person, we are seeking individuals that work hard, eat/speak/sleep manufacturing, and love it.
Additional Minimal Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years in Supervision
• Excellent mechanical aptitude, knowledge of PVC, CPVC industry a definite plus
• Understanding fit, form, & function design, knowledge of 3D CAD, strong computer and technical skills, experience with Solidworks and FEA software a plus
• Ability to delegate, communicate, understand and follow verbal and demonstrated instructions
• Use of Engineering Principals to solve production problems
• Acquire knowledge of Equipment, Personnel, Methods, Spears part numbers and products
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to perform heavy physical work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 20 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly. Performing such activities as stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, squatting, bending, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping
