Job Summary

Standards of Excellence Academy (the Academy) is a non-profit, accredited post-secondary school with a curriculum designed for people who have completed high school (or equivalent) and are seeking specialized training for specific job sectors. The Academy provides certification and specialized skills training in the fields that are in the greatest demand in the Nevada job market.

Position Summary

The Academy is seeking an Instructor to teach its Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Classes as approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. The Instructor must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Nevada. Must also have a current CNA instructors license and must have attended the train the trainer class in Nevada. CNA classes at the Academy are six weeks in length with an average of 30 hours a week combined classroom/lab time with one week of clinical experience at a skilled nursing facility totaling 40 hours.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure CNA training program continues to meet State guidelines for curriculum and content.
  • Manages the approved education program and submits appropriate forms to State oversight agency, as required.
  • Maintains records, including individual student files related to the program.
  • Prepares lesson plans containing objectives, course content, method of instruction and method of evaluation for each class scheduled and completed.
  • Assists students in their preparation to take the exam for certification.

Qualifications and Skills

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Nevada.
  • At least 3 years experience in Nursing; including 1 year providing long term care facility services
  • Hold current CNA instructors license, in good standing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Professional presentation and strong drive to succeed. Share our passion for the Academy to exceed state exam passing rates and lead our students to success.
  • 1-2 years experience educating students.

Job Type: Monday-Friday
