Tribal Victim Advocate 

 

Location:

Fairbanks, Alaska

 

Job Summary:

Healy Lake Village Council is developing an advocacy division that supports survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, dating violence and human trafficking. Advocates will offer crisis intervention, safety planning, needs assessments, services to clients. Advocates will also supply information and referrals to the clients they serve. Advocates will also participate in 

community educational training and outreach in both Healy Lake and Fairbanks areas, and attend training and conferences in the victim services field for continuing education. 

Responsibilities:

Work directly with clients to offer support

Understand and follow all policies of the advocacy program and Healy Lake Council 

Build relationships and network with community partners

Manage reports, documents and case files

Plan educational community events 

Support survivors in Tribal, State and Federal Court 

Offer and provide off-site services, transportation of clients to services and court

Travel to trainings and conferences to expand knowledge of victim services  

 

Requirements and Skills:

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Coaching and mentoring skills

Strong attention to detail

Prioritization and problem solving skills

Organized and ability to meet goals and deadlines

Ability to multi-task efficiency

Must have the flexibility to travel

Must have a valid Driver’s License

Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
