Job Summary

The IT Manager’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department in alignment with the business objectives of the company. The IT Manager will plan, coordinate, direct and design IT-related activities of the company, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The IT Manager will work closely with executive leadership and decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the company. The IT Manager will also define and implement IT policies, procedures and best practices. The IT Manager is responsible for all technology hardware, software, operating systems, data communications and networking, cloud systems, computer operations, and structured cabling within the firm. This is a hybrid role of a traditional IT manager and systems administrator. Job Responsibilities

  • Manages information technology and computer systems.
  • Plans, organizes, controls, and evaluates IT and electronic data operations.
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software issues.
  • Ensures security of data, network access, and backup systems. Ensures compliance with CIS critical security controls, physical security for IT assets. Provides annual compliance reports to clients as required.
  • Provides desktop support for internal users and interfaces with external technical support providers (consultants and software vendors).
  • Audits systems and assesses their outcomes.
  • Preserves assets, information security, and control structures.
  • Acts in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute towards organizational goals.
  • Designs, develops, implements and coordinates systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and implements technology solutions, including custom software tools.
  • Manages external IT consultants and vendors to complete projects and monitor day-to-day activities.
  • Assesses vendors and develops test strategies for new hardware and software.
  • Works with executive leadership to develop department goals, strategy, and budget.
  • May supervise part-time internal support staff.
  • May be required to provide occasional off-hour and weekend support.
  • Supports multiple offices. Travel between offices in San Jose, San Ramon, and Sacramento is required. Interacts with IT professionals/consultants in PASE offices outside the USA as well as with remote personnel.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or similar field preferred.
  • 7+ years proven working experience in IT.
  • 3+ years as Manager or Director level experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and of computer hardware/software systems. Expertise is required in:
    • Computer networking, subnetting, IP addressing, VLANs, routing
    • SonicWall firewalls and VPN technologies
    • Dell & Aruba Switching and Ubiquiti WAPs
    • Computer hardware specification, maintenance and troubleshooting (primarily Windows based servers, desktops, and laptops, including high performance workstations)
    • Microsoft Server applications/technologies (Hyper-V, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, file and print services)
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience with scripting, especially VBA and PowerShell
    • Some experience with Microsoft SQL databases and queries
    • Microsoft 365 administration, especially Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, and SharePoint
  • Expertise in data center management and data governance.
  • Expertise in network and data security.
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks including network design, administration, and installation (CCNA or higher preferred).
  • Experience with cloud environments including hybrid cloud and transitioning traditionally on-premise services to cloud.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize. Ability to weigh costs and risks against performance. Ability to manage to budgets.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills including ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and experience levels. Proven record in documenting decisions and actions for redundancy purposes.
  • A history of prompt action and responses.

Physical Requirements

  1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  2. Corrected vision within the normal range.
  3. Hearing within normal range with the ability to utilize voice calls via computer.
  4. Occasional movements throughout the office daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, provide support, etc.
  5. Ability to work in tight areas around IT equipment.
  6. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  7. Moderate travel by car between company offices in San Jose, San Ramon, and Sacramento.

WFH: Yes, up to 40%. Exact amount depends on tasks and ability to fulfill duties remotely.

Location: San Ramon, CA or San Jose, CA (routine travel by car to both offices is required).

License Requirements: Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.

Work Eligibility: Eligible to work in the USA without need of a visa sponsorship.
