Optometric Technician

Summary of Position:
The Optometric Technicians are responsible for:
➔ Log in for doctor
➔ Set up Tech room and Doctor rooms daily
➔ Deep cleaning every day/Vacuuming
➔ Read previous RX on patients’ glasses (especially new patients)
➔ Be sure to always check VAs (both distance and near) when pt comes in with contact lenses before having pt take them out.
➔ Complete Auto Refraction & IOP exams
➔ Conduct Retinal image & VAs when requested
➔ Input all pertinent exam information in exam writer
➔ Input RX in phoroptor, pull up retinal image, and lock computer in Doctor room
➔ Visual field, OCT (medical recommended by Dr)
➔ When completing the OCT, be sure to download results into PDF, then proceed to attach OCT into the patient’s eDocs in order for it to be accessible for the doctors.
➔ Complete contact orders and notify patients when order is ready
➔ Replenish diagnostic contact lenses (scan trials EVERY WEDNESDAY)
➔ Make sure trials get put up asap.

➔ Assist Front desk when necessary
➔ Ensure supplies are replenished (hand sanitizer, alcohol, napkins, contact lens cases, solution, eye drops)
➔ Verify contact lens cases are stocked in pre test and doctor rooms
➔ Take phone calls in a timely manner
➔ Assist Front desk with Recalls & pre appointments
➔ Input patient information into Officemate & demographic information into Exam Writer
➔ Follow all COVID-19 office protocols
◆ Take patient temperatures
◆ Disinfect chairs & pens
◆ Disinfect both doctor rooms and pretest room
➔ Organize and dispense contact lenses
