We are hiring for a Certified Medical Assistant for immediate placement

We are in need of temporary placement for a Bariatric & General Surgery clinic in Irving that we manage. They will be needing a Medical Assistant to replace a staff member that left. This is a temporary placement but could turn into long term for the right candidate since they are a growing practice.

The MA will need to have at least 2 years of back office experience rooming patients and performing basic MA duties, preferably in a specialty setting. Experience on eClinical Works (eCW) is highly preferred.

Job Description

The Medical Assistant (MA) performs administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider. The MA prepares the patient for time spent with the physician by reviewing history and reconciling medications. Medical Assistants may administer injections, perform diagnostic testing, measure vital signs, and other clinical duties within the scope of their certification.

Essential Skills and Functions

  • Prepares patients for exam by taking vitals and updating health information within the EMR
  • Reviews medication history to include PMP reporting as appropriate
  • Prepares exam room for procedures with appropriate equipment and supplies
  • Adheres to Universal Health Precautions.
  • Assists physician exams, tests, and/or procedures as required
  • Administer injections as ordered by physician
  • Maintains equipment sterilization procedures
  • Assist in answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Manages physician-authorized medication refills
  • Other tasks as necessitated by business needs
  • Possible travel between locations as needed

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Empathetic to patient’s needs and concerns.
  • Highly motivated and organized.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Experience with basic desktop software, medical practice management, and electronic medical record systems (eClinical Works is a plus)
  • Fluent in English
  • Excel under pressure with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA rules and regulations.

Years of Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant, surgical specialty experience is a plus
