Title: Production Assistant Manager

Shift 2 (Monday - Thursday 4:45p-3:15a)

Reports to: Production Manager

Job summary : Responsible for all aspects of the organization’s production improvement efforts, such as build plan adherence, planning, manning levels, productivity, efficiency and facilitating positive change throughout the production team. Additionally responsible for establishing productivity & quality improvement efforts that will meet or exceed internal and external customers’ needs and expectations.

Summary of essential job functions:

  1. The primary role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

a. Support the Production Manager and team by focusing on schedules, throughput, and dependency management

b. Drive overall improvements based on KPI’s and other metrics

i Debug Dashboard

ii. Site Efficiency Dashboard

iii. Quality Dashboard

iv. Work Efficiency Dashboard

v. OTD Dashboard

c. Work with various teams inside and outside the plant, to develop solutions that quickly resolve deviations from standards

d. Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly production performance and correcting negative trends quickly and permanently

e. Work with the Production Manager to optimize production staffing to maximize cost structure

i. Staff reduction due to BP

ii. Minimize OT

f. Provide leadership, development, and management to production personnel that will ensure the department operates safely, efficiently, and effectively

g. Work with the process team to continuously optimize current manufacturing processes, disseminate lessons learned, understand next steps, and sustain results

h. Anticipates bottlenecks, clarifies project priorities, identifies risks, and escalates issues to the Production Manager that cannot be internally resolved

i. Build relationships between production and production support departments

j. Provides support as needed for a 24 hour 7 day a week operation.

 

2. Work closely with production control, planning, and quality teams to ensure accountability and timely completion of the build plan.

3. Tracking and management of all incoming and outgoing WIP.

a. Ensures all WO’s are closed in a timely manner and resolves any issues that delay WO closure.

b. Be proficient in Kanban, Supermarket, Production, and Inventory reporting as it pertains to MIM.

c. Find, report, and help to correct all incoming material mismatches to maintain correct inventory reporting on the floor.

4. Ensure that the production departments are efficient in working with the infrastructure teams on the overall needs of the specified area and products.

a. Proper tooling and equipment is in good working order to begin work for each area and kit.

b. Proficiency of team to operate within the designed program functions.

c. Resolve problems found and work in conjunction with the appropriate departments to fix, maintain, or improve departments’ ability to perform effectively.

5. Ensure the correct placement of the materials/ pallets, in the designated areas, across the production rooms, and following Material in Motions LEAN standards.

6. Stay current on knowledge of each operation performed on Work Orders.

7. Responsible for all tooling needs for the production departments.

a. Tools are stored in correct and clean locations.

b. Tools are in good working order.

c. Preventative maintenance scheduling.

d. Reporting and replacement of damaged tools.

8. Ensure proper re-packaging for components as it pertains to each product line and how the production lines prep and use them

9. Have a working knowledge of systems used in material movement, storage, and production to include:

a. Shopfloor

b. Local apps

c. Epicor

d. Crystal Reports

10. General safety, knowledge, continual training, motivation, development, and improvement of direct reports.

11. Ensure that all direct reports are following MIM processes, guidelines, and rules at all times. Keep up with changes to them as well and growing the visions and understandings of direct leadership reports and team members.

12. Attend and report in all conferences assigned by the Production Manager.

13. Develop improved procedures to increase productivity as it pertains to the specified product and production areas for the improvement of the facility.

14. Perform all other duties as assigned or as dictated by the Production Manager.

Minimum requirements:

  1. 5+ years production leadership experience required
  2. Post-secondary education is preferred
  3. Continual on-the-job-learning is required

Essential and Physical requirements:

  1. Standing for long periods
  2. Ability to work in a fast paced production environment
  3. Analytical thinking skills
  4. Ability to work alone or in large groups
  5. Communicate thorough and accurate information
  6. Work on multiple projects and meet various deadlines set by Sr. Management
