POSITION SUMMARY

The dual registered Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer works under limited supervision to provide advanced technical skills in the performance of non-invasive tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Responsibilities include performing a full range of non-invasive cardiac and vascular ultrasound tests to include Venous Insufficiency studies, Upper/Lower Arterial Duplex, Upper/Lower Venous Duplex, AV Fistula/Graft, Extracranial Carotid Duplex, Abdominal Aorta (AAA), Renal/Mesenteric Arterial Duplex and related duties in patient care. Perform various (basic and advanced) cardiac ultrasound examinations under direction of staff Cardiologist. Utilizes all Ultrasound techniques, including gray scale imaging, color and spectral Doppler, 3D, and strain imaging.

The Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer must work in a manner that places emphasis on quality patient care and customer service. This position must work collaboratively with all clinic staff, fostering an environment which promotes excellent patient care, comfort and trust. This position must exemplify the core values of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates ultrasound equipment for data acquisition, documentation of images and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
• Prepares a summary of technical findings for interpretation by vascular surgeon.
• Provides preliminary technical interpretations to ordering physician(s).
• Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
• Practices safety measures in Environment of Care.
• Assists the Technical Manager/Director with the maintenance of laboratory accreditation through standardized protocols.
• Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times
• Is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of vascular disease and new procedures, as they evolve.
• Adheres to internal policies and reporting structure
