· Mental Health Therapist play a vital role in treating mental health disorders for both children and adults in order to help improve their overall well-being. Mental Health Therapist use their analytic skills to apply evidence-based care and best practices in order to ensure clients get the care and treatment they need. In so doing, Mental Health Therapist primarily work with clients on a one to one basis, and also work collaboratively as part of a team by coordinating with their Supervisor, Clinical Director, the Psychiatric Department, Targeted Case Managers, School Personnel, and Medical Professionals, etc.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL DUTIES

·         Proficient in therapeutically treating children, families, adults, and groups.

·         Analyze, interpret, and make deductions from facts and circumstances of each client’s situation.

·         Using independent judgment, select and apply the appropriate counseling theory and technique to assist the client/family in exploring thoughts, feelings, problems, and solutions.

·         Individualize counseling in accordance with culture, gender, sexual identify, race, age, disability, etc.

·         Ensure treatment is tailored toward the client’s needs and  treatment goals.

Accommodate client’s preference for place of service including, but not limited to the home, schools, office, telehealth, etc.

 

·         Mental Health Therapists will abide by all agency policies and/or directives regarding timesheets, billable time, and therapy notes, as such policies/directives may be amended from time to time.

·         Treatment Plan Reviews will be conducted every 6 months or sooner if there is a change in treatment. This may require a Treatment Plan Addendum.

·         An Annual Biopsychosocial will be submitted no earlier or any later than 1 year and 1 day from the last Biopsychosocial. If the Biopsychosocial is due on a weekend or holiday then it will be completed on the first business day following the weekend or holiday.

·         CFARs/FARs will be conducted for every client every 6 months and at closing.

·         Monthly outcomes will be submitted every month.

·         Peer reviews will be conducted quarterly and returned to their supervisor on the date they are due.

·         Info logs must be kept up to date and in accordance with the Treatment Plan.

·         Monthly staff meetings are mandatory unless discussed and agreed upon with supervisor. If approved to miss staff meetings, therapist is responsible to review meeting minutes and sign off.

·         Attend agency meetings and trainings that are requested/ scheduled by the Agency.

·         Monthly reports for DJJ, DCF, Schools, etc., must be submitted on time.

·         Mental Health Therapists will meet with their supervisor at least once a month for supervision, as required by agency policy, insurance entities, and accreditation.

·          

·         Interpret the assessment results and explain the results to the client in a manner the client/family understand.

·         Identify client/family concerns that need resolution.

·         Formulate agreed upon, measurable goals and objectives  based on the client’s strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.

Using independent judgment, Identify the treatment methods and resources to be utilized as appropriate for the individual client.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Master’s Degree from an accredited university or college with a major in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, special education or a related human service field. Preferences will be given to LMHC, LMFT, or LCSW licensed by the State of Florida.

Experience

One (1) year post-Master’s degree experience in clinical atmosphere, preferably in mental health.

Special

Local travel may be required. Schedules are subject to change, depending on the client’s needs.
