Associate Pastor – Discipleship

Oak View Baptist Church rev. 5.14.24

To lead the church to develop pathways for adult discipleship through interactive Bible study, connection with other members and helping members use their gifts to serve others. Practically, this would include:

·        Creating and equipping a growing number of healthy adult small groups ( Lifegroup).

·        Developing systems for engaging and involving new members in ministry and service.

·        Leading and training ministry teams including the first impressions and hospitality ministries.  

·        Providing opportunities and direction for reaching out to the community.

·        Facilitating the process for developing new and existing leaders. 

In addition to the above, there will be opportunities for teaching/preaching in the Sunday morning services.

Qualifications

·        Uncompromising Christian character,

·        Clear and consistent biblical worldview.

·        Strong and clear calling to ministry.

·        Agreement with church doctrine and practices.

·        3+ years of full-time ministry

·        Adequate theological training

·        Teachable

·        Respect for the role of the Pastor and other staff members.

·        Leader of leaders – understands how to effectively recruit, train and motivate volunteers.

·        Builder and developer of people and teams of people

·        Works well with other staff members and leaders.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·        Good communicator/teacher.

·        Effective conflict resolution skills.

·        Highly relational leader

·        Self-starter.

·        An encourager.

·        Appropriate confidentiality.

·        Ability to work effectively in a multigenerational, multi-cultural church.

·        Able to lead others to effectively reach out to unchurched and de-churched people in the community.

·        Ability to complete multiple projects at the same time.

·        Understand how to start, grow and build adult small groups.

·        Demonstrate wise judgment, discretion, and respect when carrying out job responsibilities.
