Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Department: Operations

Position Overview

Major Areas of Responsibility

Purchasing

Gehring Supply-Chain

Logistics

Primary Objectives

Purchasing of both manufactured and commercial goods in a timely manner, according to budget, and meeting the required quality standards.

Accurately maintaining inventoried items through cycle counts and regular audits.

Cost reductions through working with internal disciplines (e.g. engineering) and external vendors.

Development and care of vendor base, including vendor performance tracking and auditing on key performance indicators.

Ensure continuous supply to production using just in time supply chain practices.

Manage shipping, receiving, and logistics activities.

Specific Responsibilities of the position

Cost reduction according to Strategic Purchasing determinations.

Ensure purchasing of parts according to internal budget and project timing.

Lean and efficient processes to order necessary machine tool components.

Gehring Supply Chain: be part and use the advantages of global Gehring Supply-Chain-Management.

Required Skills and Abilities – list each skill/ability the employee must be able to perform to do their job satisfactorily.

BS/BA in Supply Chain Management or equivalent (preferred but not required).

3-5 years’ Purchasing experience in machine tool sector.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Extensive technical and commercial knowledge in machine tool sector.

Proficient in MS Office

Knowledge of international and domestic logistics preferred but not required.

Knowledge of inventory management/control preferred but not required.

Ability to read/interpret CAD drawings, manufacturing, or process prints preferred but not required.
