AFS is looking for a responsible delivery driver in our Milwaukee, WI market. Not only will you be in charge of delivering parts and products within a designated area, you should excel in customer service and be able to follow all company safety precautions. Efficiency is a must while fulfilling and performing quality checks on orders. After your route is done you will come back to our warehouse and assist with product receiving, order picking and customer service. Candidate will have a good driving record and pass our Motor Vehicle record (MVR) check before hire and be comfortable driving a light vehicle such as a truck or cargo van. This position is Monday-Friday, 7-3:30.
Primary Responsibilities
- Unload and check in product
- Pull customer orders
- Organize shelves
- Coordinate daily delivery schedule
- Take stock or inventory
- Fill transfer bins; coordinate delivery or pickup with branches
- Fill transfers/customer orders when UPS checked in
- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
- Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions
- Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
- Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles
- Drive forklift to load and unload trucks and move inventory in warehouse
- Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations, plants, residences, offices, or within industrial yards
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition
- Gain signature for proof of delivery
- Dress appropriately according to job site regulations
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles
- Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles
- Use and maintain the tools or equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as weighing or measuring devices.
- Perform various other duties and required by the company
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma
- Proven working experience as a delivery driver
- 1-2 years’ warehouse experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to operate forklifts with valid certification
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Good driving record with no traffic violations
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Able to work under pressure
- Good communication skills via phone and in-person
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Must possess customer service skills
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Data entry and computer skills required
- Must pass all Liability Insurance requirements for driving
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
- Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs, occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus
- Must be able to drive short and long distances and obey all traffic scenarios
