Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Job Description
This individual will be responsible for the effective repair of machinery, vehicles, and trailers at high levels of quality. Their work must be completed in a safe, professional, and timely manner. The Diesel Mechanic must work with a high degree of autonomy. This individual must be able to perform quality work as efficiently and profitably as possible.
Specific Duties for Diesel Mechanics:
· Inspect, diagnose, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned.
· Document machine information and repairs completed, including parts and fluids used.
· Will maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
· Track maintenance consumables and parts and order within a budget.
· Maintain technical and product knowledge and manuals on all equipment used by the company.
· Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and the employee handbook.
· Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training to develop and advance a knowledge base and skill set.
· Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and external resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and an exemplary work product.
· Demonstrate a proactive approach to maintaining equipment by anticipating maintenence needs.
· Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
Job Requirements:
· Excellent mechanical skills
· Efficient use of equipment-specific, hand and pneumatic tools and lifts
· Computer skills including basic inventory, repair and maintenance tracking and parts ordering
· Ability to perform maintenance functions on equipment and vehicles within specific guidelines
· Strong oral and written communication skills – Spanish language speakers are appreciated
· Strong organizational skills – ability to work independently
