Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

The General Labor position assembles boxes and gaylords, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions.


Essential Functions

  1. Assemble gaylords and super sacks for copper chops
  2. Recognize different grades of material to organize appropriately
  3. Takes inventory, maintains storage area, organizes, and places stock on shelves
  4. Ensures area is always secure
  5. Perform physical duties that are associated with the operation of equipment
  6. Follow direction of Area Supervisor with regards to daily production and activities to complete the job
  7. Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment as required
  8. Always follow the dress code and compliance of proper PPE
  9. Work independently in the absence of direct supervison

Education/Experience

  1. Material Handling and sorting
  2. Floor sweeper, forklift, skid steer, front end loader
Requirements:
  1. Knowledge of Non-ferrous and Ferrous materials
  2. Ability to work with hand wire cutters
  3. Able to shovel materials

Physical Requirements

  1. Stand for long periods of time
  2. Ability to lift 50 lbs continuously
  3. Able to shovel heavy materials
  4. Tolerate a dusty environment
  5. Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
