This client offers a wide range of logistical services and ensures the safe and efficient transport of chemicals, foodstuffs, gas and mineral oils. With a combined fleet of nearly 40.000 tank containers, 3.000 road tankers and more than 6.000 IBC’s it is one of the worldwide market leaders in moving liquids by road, rail and sea.

The position:
Ideal candidate is a motivated Cost Control Representative with comprehensive knowledge of cost allocation. He/she should have a background in the logistics or maritime industry.
The Cost Control department is responsible for the approval of all vendor invoices pertaining to the transports of our tank containers. The department plays a crucial role between the Operational and Accounting department.
The position deals with almost all other departments within the organization, it offers excellent opportunities to learn the business and gain vital knowledge.
Someone who is very organized, highly efficient and accurate. He or she must be able to keep track of outstanding issues with various parties and persons, both within the own organization as well as outside that.
The candidate should also be familiar with maritime and/or logistic terminology, and have some experience with IT systems and be proficient with Excel.
*This is NOT an accounting position The responsibilities do not involve working with ledgers, payroll or balance sheets.
Job Duties:
- Allocating purchase invoices
- Verify invoiced amounts against cost accruals in Monitor
- Investigate found discrepancies against vendor rate agreements
- Internal querying
- External disputing
- Communicate discrepancies on quote level with the Sales department
- Provide back-up during absence or when workload requires for a team member appointed by Manager
- Other duties as specified from time to time by Management
Skills, experience and qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor's degree
- 2 - 5 years work experience in transport or maritime industry
- Good analytical and problem solving abilities
- Strong focus on efficiency and being organized
- Detail oriented
- Resistant to stress
- Possess a strong will to learn and develop
- Is able to think outside the box
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interact with all levels in the organization
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task with the ability to plan and complete work assignments with little supervision
