The Purchasing Agent is responsible for executing the daily operations purchasing. This includes inventory management, supplier negotiations, purchase order creation, and monitoring material cost savings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Track inventory required for contract builds.
- Conduct research, interviews, and negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive prices, delivery dates, and product quality.
- Generate detailed purchase orders containing all necessary information, including grade, measurements, quantity, due date, and customer requirements.
- Regularly follow up on purchased items and provide status reports to management.
- Perform cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory reconciliation.
- Monitor and report material cost savings to management on a monthly basis.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Preferred ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in ERP software, preferably NetSuite.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software suite.
- Strong data entry, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple assignments.
- Preferred experience in door manufacturing and purchasing related to Government contracts with DFARS.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field from an accredited college, university, or technical school; OR
- Four (4) years of relevant experience and/or training in purchasing, finance, or sales, with a minimum of three (3) years in the door manufacturing industry; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
