Crow Wing Recycling is hiring as we have had major growth and now employ over 300 employees We are a family-owned business that buys, processes and sells scrap metals—ferrous and nonferrous—from automobiles, trucks, appliances, machines that are generated by industry through construction or deconstruction of facilities. We are headquartered in Brainerd, MN and our environmentally certified facility operates in 9 locations throughout the state.

We are currently looking for a Recycled Metals Retail Technician to join our team at our Crow Wing Recycling facility in Brainerd, MN. The Retail Technician reports to the Non-Ferrous Warehouse Manager. Essential functions include sorting, equipment operations, light maintenance as trained, loading and unloading trailers, learning and identifying different types of metals and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet customers with a friendly, positive attitude as you are the face of company on our retail side of business
• Respectfully and carefully assist customers with getting their product unloaded and weighed
• Safely and effectively load and unload various types of trailers with confidence by operating a forklift and skid steer
• Check-in with customers to figure out what bins they might need and help them understand our material requirements and specifications
• Identify and sort various grades of non-ferrous metal to set up for pricing
• Enter material information into computer software program that sends to our scale operator to pay out customer
• Make sure materials are moved to appropriate staging area of yard for bailing and shipping to other locations
• Communicate via radio with staff frequently about safety, commodity grade, deducts, and any other appropriate radio communication to ensure an efficient work environment
• During downtime sort and clean breakage and mixed material to upgrade value
• Sweep, clean, and organize the entire yard, both behind and in front of the warehouse
• Keep equipment clean and safe for operation, Check accuracy of scale weight on a daily basis
• Ensure the equipment is getting the maintenance attention it needs by keeping a list and notifying the appropriate people of any issues
• Check daily mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of the equipment to ensure functionality
• Ensure flammable liquids (examples, but not limited to, gas tanks, propane tanks, oxygen tanks, batteries) are kept in the appropriate areas
• Use sweeper machine throughout the day when necessary. Use water system to keep dust contained Clean and organize area around scales and in retail parking lot.
• Follow company safety guidelines
• Will assist with various projects around the yard and other duties as assigned

Skills And Qualifications:

• 1+ years Customer Service or Warehouse experience
• Previous experience in the metals recycling industry a plus
• Forklift and/or Skid Steer experience a plus
• Previous experience with computer software programs or POS systems a plus
• Customer facing experience; excellent communication
• Must be reliable, eager to work and willing to learn
• Must be able to work in a team environment or independently
• Must be punctual and demonstrate regular attendance
• Ability to continuously stand, bend, lift or walk
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

• Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements
• Moderate to high risk of safety precautions
• Moderate to high exposure to production environment
• Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related)
• Ability to work outside year-round
