The Service Technician will provide technical support to our customers through phone, email, and on-site visits. As a Service Technician, You Will:

  • Handle customer support phone calls with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Provide clear and effective written and oral communication to address customer support needs.
  • Travel to customer sites to service and maintain Derrick equipment in the field.
  • Be available to travel 25-30% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
  • Perform field work, including tasks such as grinding, cutting, welding, and using various hand and power tools.
  • Show a willingness to learn about the differences in products, materials, and a wide range of machine types encountered in the Mining & Industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrate mechanical and technical aptitude to perform hands-on repairs in the field.
  • Review job scope and conduct a pre-work assessment to ensure all job requirements are met.
  • Prepare quotes and process orders for service calls.
  • Arrange and schedule travel, while managing associated expenses.
  • Provide support to Customer Service Representatives as needed.

What You Will Bring to Derrick:

  • A two-year technical degree is preferred but not required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for diagnosing issues and performing hands-on repairs.
  • Experience in lab processing is a plus.
  • An essential function of the position includes the ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Electrical experience and troubleshooting skills are advantageous.
  • Must be willing to undergo additional training in Welding, Centrifuge, and Motor departments as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to learn new software programs such as Syteline, Dynamics, and Application Extender.
