J H Operating Company, LLC, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management firm primarily supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, is seeking a highly experienced Pipe Design Supervisor to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Summary:

The Pipe Design Supervisor will lead and manage the piping design team, ensuring all projects are executed efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This role is crucial in driving the success of our projects and expanding our services within the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and manage the piping design team, assigning tasks, and balancing workloads.
    • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing feedback and development opportunities.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to review project progress and address any issues.
    • Mentor and train junior designers and drafters, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee the design and layout of piping systems for various projects.
    • Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards, codes, and company procedures.
    • Review and approve design documents, ensuring accuracy, quality, and functionality.
    • Implement and maintain version control procedures.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct thorough checks of 3D models for P&ID compliance.
    • Ensure design documents meet quality standards and project specifications.
    • Promote continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements.
  • Field Design and Support:
    • Coordinate and perform field design activities, including P&ID walk downs and as-builts.
    • Provide technical support and feedback to project teams based on field experience.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction:
    • Act as the main point of contact between the design team, project managers, and clients.
    • Ensure effective communication and address any project changes or issues promptly.

 

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 15-20 years of experience in piping design, with significant experience in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year, accredited university in a related discipline.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and AutoDesk Plant 3D.
  • Advanced knowledge of 3D modeling design practices and procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of piping components (manual valves, specialty valves, fittings, etc.).
  • Experience with field design activities and mechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with API, ASME, and ANSI standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in BlueBeam and/or Adobe commenting tools for redlining drawings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to pass an in-depth background check and drug screening.

Preferred:

  • 10 years of Autodesk Plant 3D experience.
  • Extensive background in oil & gas or petrochemical plants.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Long hours may be necessary as workload dictates, including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Work will generally be performed at the office in Baton Rouge.
  • Travel time is expected to be less than 10%.
