**Job Summary:**

We are seeking an individual to join our team and fill the position of Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing construction projects and preparing accurate cost estimates. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in civil construction and some field experience. This position is open to individuals desiring to move in to estimating. We will train but you must have field experience and knowledge in civil construction. This requirement is a necessity for understanding and reviewing plans and specs for a project. This position also requires clear communication skills, a self-driven attitude, a humble attitude (Always being willing to learn and follow others), being a team player (we have a great team, and we all work toward the same goals), and a desire to always learn more.

**Responsibilities: **

- Analyze project plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates. You will be using Software to complete material takeoffs and entering the data into our estimating software. In this software, you will be entering materials and sub pricing obtained from our trusted subs and suppliers. You will also be entering in our crews and preparing the estimate for review by the President and/ or VP of the company (no prices go out of our doors without the President's review). You will then work hand in hand with our team in setting up jobs, pricing changes, providing estimate information to our team, signing up subs and buying out materials.

- Proficient with computers. This position requires utilization of software such as Bluebeam, Heavy Bid, and other tools for estimating. We will train, but prior knowledge of these systems or something similar is a plus. We need an individual not afraid of learning and bring more knowledge to the table in these systems. We have only begun to tap into these powerful tools and are always looking for ways to improve.

- Collaborate with customers to gather necessary information for accurate estimates. This position requires working with our customers and their teams to gather the necessary information needed to give an accurate bid price. We have a lot of repeat business because we help each customer build their projects by offering our services starting in the budgeting phase and working all the way through the end of the job. We strive to save our customers as much money possible but also give them a quality product. Our reputation for this provides us with a lot of work opportunities. It is imperative that this individual have clear communication skills, have a great attitude, geared to making the customer happy and be extremely honest with our customers.

- Collect pricing from our trusted suppliers and subcontractors. We do not chase the lowest price. Relationships and loyalty are more important to us, so we use only a few trusted partners as subs and suppliers. However, we do have to work through each job to have the best price possible. Therefore, this position requires constant communication and occasional meetings with these partners.

- Develop detailed proposals for clients outlining the scope of work, materials, and labor costs. Again, this individual must possess clear communication skills Our proposals are very detailed and have what we call CYA language. We want to make sure the customers understand clearly what is included in our proposal, what is excluded and what our terms will be for a particular job. We do not want any conflicts if possible once the job starts.

- Assist the project team in monitoring project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budget. The President, VP, CFO, Office Manager, project coordinator and the project managers all work as a team to track costs throughout a project. This position will require being a team player that can work and fit in with our team to make the jobs flow. In this position you will have to answer questions such as what crews did, we figure in a bid, what material locations we used, what subs we planned to use. etc.

**Skills: **

- Field experience in civil construction. We are looking for someone that has experience working in the field. This time in the field makes for a better, more qualified estimator. This skill is more important for us than experience in estimating.

- Strong leadership qualities such as being self-driven, being a team player, going the extra mile when needed, being humble, taking criticism, owning up to mistakes etc.

- Experience with computer software tools like Microsoft 365 products, Bluebeam, Heavy Bid, and other industry-specific programs. Again, we will train to use our software products but you must be proficient in computer skills, knowing how to navigate in different software so that you can quickly learn our software and systems.

- Ability to analyze plans / specs and understand project requirements to accurately estimate costs. This job requires reading every note and detail so that nothing is missed or misunderstood.

- Excellent communication skills. We can't say this enough
