THE POSITION: The City of Burlingame is seeking a skilled worker to safely climb trees using ladders and climbing equipment or works from bucket of an aerial lift truck boom and all types of tree maintenance equipment to perform the trimming, removal, installation, and general maintenance of trees; to operate and maintain all tree maintenance equipment; and to perform related work as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will maintain tree maintenance equipment, keep records of work performed, review projects, assist in the training and supervision of lower-level staff. Respond to inquiries from the general public regarding tree maintenance work and explain tree policies. Receive general supervision from the Parks Supervisor and Tree Lead Worker. Confer with the Tree Lead Worker on projects. Respond to emergency calls outside of normal work hours as required.

REQUIREMENTS TO FILE: The City of Burlingame invites candidates to apply who have sufficient education and experience to perform the above duties efficiently. Typically, this is obtained through achievement of Certified Tree Worker status, and equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in tree care work.

License/Certificates: Possession of valid 'Class C' California Motor Vehicle Operators License; Certified Tree Worker Certificate (ISA) and Certified Line Clearance certificate within one year of appointment; and First aid and CPR certificate within one year of appointment.
