Job DescriptionJob Description

The Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of public works projects, including sewer systems, water distribution, storm drains, pump stations, and water tanks. This role requires a deep understanding of civil engineering, project management, and public infrastructure, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:

    • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
    • Coordinate with government agencies, engineers, architects, and contractors to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
    • Prepare and manage project documentation, including proposals, contracts, and progress reports.

  2. Execution and Oversight:

    • Lead and manage project teams to ensure successful completion of all project phases.
    • Monitor construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
    • Oversee subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of services and materials.

  3. Quality and Safety Management:

    • Implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
    • Promote a culture of safety and ensure all project activities comply with health and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify issues, and ensure corrective actions are taken.

  4. Budget and Financial Management:

    • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective delivery.
    • Prepare and review financial reports, forecasts, and invoices.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate with suppliers and contractors to optimize project costs.

  5. Risk and Issue Management:

    • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Address project challenges and issues promptly to minimize impacts on project timelines and costs.
    • Ensure all project risks are documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

  6. Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:

    • Maintain regular communication with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide updates on project status, milestones, and any issues or changes.
    • Facilitate project meetings, ensuring clear and effective communication among all parties.

  7. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

    • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Stay informed about industry best practices and regulatory changes.
    • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for project execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in public works projects, including sewer systems, water supply, storm drains, pump stations, and water tanks.
  • Strong knowledge of public works construction methodologies, materials, and equipment.
  • Proven track record of managing complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • PMP certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Familiarity with government regulations, permitting processes, and public sector procurement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
