Job Description: Production Line Lead
Reports To: Operations Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Production Line Lead is responsible for overseeing production operations in a designated area or process on a specific shift. This role involves coordinating the activities of assigned work groups to ensure optimal personnel deployment and scheduling to meet production targets. The role operates with limited supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operational Coordination:
- Manage day-to-day operations efficiently and accurately.
- Understand and enforce company policies and procedures to effectively lead team members.
- Foster employee engagement, communication, and education on Key Principles and Daicel Principles.
2. Production and Quality Management:
- Support the achievement of business goals related to safety, quality, productivity, scrap, and downtime.
- Ensure all products meet production and technical specifications, including those related to Statistical Process Control (SPC).
3. Scheduling and Training:
- Coordinate and adjust work schedules to meet daily production demands.
- Assist in training production personnel in the assigned area.
4. Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain and ensure the proper use of current production documentation by relevant personnel.
- Conduct self-audits as necessary.
5. Technical and Procedural Execution:
- Read, interpret, and execute manufacturing procedures, engineering work requests, and drawings.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize machine uptime and utilization.
- Maintain accurate production reports and records.
6. Problem-Solving and Audits:
- Identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions regarding processes and product quality.
- Regularly conduct safety and quality audits.
7. Training and Injection Molding Experience:
- Handle training responsibilities.
- Possess some experience with injection molding processes.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.; some college or technical training preferred.
- At least five years of manufacturing experience in a production or safety training role, including safety, quality, team leadership, problem-solving, group presentations, and effective meeting leadership.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in arithmetic and Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation.
- Familiarity with World Class manufacturing concepts (e.g., KanBan, Constraint Management).
- Strong team orientation, excellent communication, motivational, and organizational skills.
- Ability to understand and follow all policies, procedures, instructions, rules, and regulations written in English.
- Availability to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Capacity to interpret technical instructions in written and diagram form and manage both abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficiency in reading, comprehending, and interpreting policies, labor laws, and federal regulations.
- Ability to understand and apply documentation, including SOPs, MIs, PS, PMPs, and MSPs.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to typical office and manufacturing lighting and temperatures, with required safety equipment based on the area.
- Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and unfavorable weather conditions.
- Risks associated with explosive materials used in the company's manufacturing processes.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent movement throughout the facility and within production areas.
- Regular communication and exchange of information or ideas.
- Occasional manual operation of office and manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to navigate confined spaces and occasionally transport up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include close inspection, distance vision, color identification, peripheral detection, depth perception, and detail recognition in varying conditions.
