Veterinary Technician

We are looking for both licensed veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants. We have both full and part time positions available. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train motivated candidates. The position requires the ability to work well with your team members as well as the clients. General job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Supporting veterinarians with exams, surgery, dentistry, hospitalized patients, procedures, etc.
· Client communication to ensure patient care, educate clients and advocate for pet health
· Be able to safely restrain both dogs and cats
· Obtain body weight and vitals
· Maintain complete medical records by obtaining medical histories and properly recording all necessary and required information
· Understand and follow proper protocol for sterilization
· Obtain and process laboratory samples
· Dispense medications and explain directions to client as per doctor instructions
· Keep all areas of the hospital (treatment, surgery, exam rooms, lab, kennels) clean and organized
· Maintain efficient patient flow
· Communicate with clients to explain doctor’s instructions, lab results, post op care, post discharge follow up, etc.
· Keep hospitalized patients clean and comfortable and follow all doctor ordered for treatments in a timely manner
Qualities we are looking for include compassion and empathy, good communication skills, a positive attitude, punctuality, willingness to learn, a good listener, the ability to stay calm under stress, team player, and a strong interest and ability to work with people.
The position requires standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling and lifting.
We strive to be flexible with scheduling of our staff and we expect the same consideration in return. Availability for evenings and weekends is necessary.
