About George Junior Republic:

Founded in 1909, George Junior Republic is dedicated to helping at-risk youth become successful, well-adjusted adults, capable of achieving a higher degree of citizenship and a better understanding of his responsibility to society, family and self. Preventative Aftercare, a GJR Affiliate corporation, provides community-based services in Pennsylvania and Ohio to both adults, children, and families.

Summary of the position: The Mental Health Worker will work therapeutically with youth and their families providing individual, group and family therapy sessions on a regularly scheduled basis. The counselor will also provide families with 24/7 on call service when scheduled and comply with all on-call policies as determined by the Family Based Director, as well as develop clinically appropriate treatment plans for the youth and family. The counselor's hours are considered non-traditional based on referring agency and family needs; however, the work week is considered full time (40 hours per week). Employees are expected to work a minimum of two evenings (past 5pm) two evenings per week. On-call crisis line coverage as scheduled.

Requirements:

  • The counselor must have a Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field.
  • Must have a minimum of two years direct service experience with children and adolescents in a CASSP system providing behavioral or mental health services.
