Basic Function

Deliver engaging and effective soft skills and employer-centered training content to New Americans settled in Central Ohio. Be a passionate advisor who can deliver exceptional culturally and linguistically appropriate training sessions. Be open to working with a variety of learners, helping them develop the skills they need to succeed in their roles and move their careers forward.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct workshops on topics that align with employer's workforce requirements and increase clients’ chances of building their English language abilities and skill sets that can lead to career advancement including Resume Building, Mock Interviewing, Career Exploration, Business Communication and Business Etiquette.

2. Continuously evaluate, builds and implement an effective course curriculum for client’s successful completion of the job readiness training class to include hard skills training and soft skills training such as time management, conflict resolution and workplace navigation.

3. Responsible for developing and delivering training and education to the clients enrolled in Engagement Works at their workplace or another convenient location.

4. Provide training and instruction that is grounded in Employability and Life Skills and is specific to the refugee groups.

5. Use various teaching techniques to provide training and education workshops with a focus on helping New Americans learn how to navigate work and life in the United States.

6. Partner with employers to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of both ETSS clients and the workplace.

7. Provide instruction in job specific skills that will help New American’s successfully acclimate to their first job and provide guidance for increasing their skills for their current employer.

8. Daily attendance tracking and case notes of participants

9. Perform other duties as required by the program and Engagement Works Manager.

Skills

Education

BA or BS degree plus 2-3 years’ experience in workforce development training, life skills training or other related fields

Experience

Previous experience in developing and delivering training modules. Previous experience working in multi-level ESOL classroom instruction. Understanding of and willingness to demonstrate communication, time management, problem solving and workplace issue competency. Familiarity with social service programs, working with the refugee and immigrant community in educational, employment, and language programming. Collaboration with community partners.

Other Requirements

Possession of a valid Ohio driver's license, reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance. Evening and weekend availability.
