Responsibilities
- Estimator will be responsible for actively identifying projects to bid, preparing estimates takeoffs, and putting together proposals for pricing
- Estimator will support submission of accurate and timely bids ensuring success in the bid proposal and award process while meeting or exceeding customer service expectations
- Review incoming bid list and identify jobs to bid based on fit with SCA Sign Group’s capabilities and overall scope
- Utilize company estimating tools (software and vendor pricing) and perform detailed material and labor takeoffs from fabrication drawings, concepts and/or bill of materials to prepare job estimates
- Review all front-end documents and specifications, seek clarification as appropriate, attend pre bid meetings as needed, submit RFIs when necessary, perform Take-Offs and price all materials (including paint/coating when applicable), identify and price outsourced items and assist in estimating all labor hours
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Manage and prioritize backlog of estimates to achieve best outcomes and meet bid deadlines
- Identify accurate estimates of materials equipment, and labor for a project
- Monitor costs throughout the project to ensure adherence to budget
- Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned by team
- Provide support to project managers as needed
- Able to meet monthly estimate quota set forth by management team
Qualifications
- A strong understanding of construction principles and materials
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy
- A passion for the sign industry and a desire to learn and grow
- Proven experience in construction/sign estimating or related role
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Familiarity with cost control techniques and strategies
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self Starter, Flexible
- Estimating: 2 years (Required)
