Position: CDL Driver/ Laborer 

Location: Headquarters Curtis Bay, MD; travel to job sites

We are currently seeking a CDL B Truck Driver/Laborer to join our PEI Team.  The CDL aspect will include driving trucks such as the test pit truck and related equipment. The right candidate will drive and operate the test pit truck when needed. Other tasks may include but not limited to carrying materials and heavy objects, stacking materials, digging and setting up test pits with crew and other related tasks. 

*This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.*

*US Citizenship will be required due to legal government contract on job sites*

PEI is a utility construction and engineering firm serving the State of Maryland, DC and parts of VA. PEI is a family-owned company headquartered in Curtis Bay, MD.

Qualifications:

  • CDL B REQUIRED
  • 2+ years experience operating Class B straight trucks and/or test pit trucks. 
  • Experience in excavation work, general construction and/or utility construction work
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Operating /driving CDL type truck primarily test pit truck
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT rules
  • Ability to climb up and down off equipment safely.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others by phone, in person or through email.
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks as part of the team and on job sites

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and assist with loading and/or unloading
  • Must be willing to help in other construction related tasks when not driving.
  • Must be able to climb into cab of truck and climb down from the truck cab
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel to perform essential tasks including maintenance and inspection of equipment
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands to move levers/controls to operate the truck
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
