Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Possess and maintain proficiency in the knowledge of building codes and references related to construction of facilities and surrounding site work.
  • Ability to read and understand requirements described on construction drawings.
  • Provide inspection and surveillance of construction, operations, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the work is in accordance with contract documents.
  • Monitor construction submittals utilizing a submittal status log to ensure proper format, delivery order, and schedule requirements are met.
  • Review and assist in assessment of the accuracy of the construction contractor’s requests for payment.
  • Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule.
  • Maintain an Inspectors Site Inspection Report.
  • Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes, and related data.
  • Monitor requests for Information (RFI) and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the construction period.
  • Participate in pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations of detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.
  • Verify accuracy of red-lined drawings produced by the Construction Contractor.
  • Assist in review and comment on all O&M Manual submittals.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years of applicable experience on construction projects
  • Army Corp of Engineering (USACE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or other federal project construction experience is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme winter cold and summer heat temperatures.
