Hospital Liaison

Summary of Position: The Hospital Liaison is responsible for growing key service line areas as defined by management. Develops and maintains new and current relationships with assigned hospital(s).
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent; some college preferred
Experience: One (1) year of experience in DME or hospital setting preferred
Skills: Excellent organization and time management, Excellent Written and Verbal Skills, Good interpersonal and communication skills
Requirements: None
Physical: Required to sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel. Regularly required to talk or hear and see. Frequent walking, may include walking up and down stairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Builds and expands relationships with new referral sources and maintains and expands relationships with existing referral sources.
Promotes company products and services with physicians, case managers, hospital personnel, and other traditional referral sources in a professional and creative manner.
Communicate with discharge planning staff and home care staff regarding DME needs.
Assure that patient/family needs are identified and prioritized, including any special needs.
Facilitate the transition and continuity of care from the acute care setting to the home.
Function as a communication link between inpatient areas, home care, physicians and patients and their families.
Under the order of the physicians, provides information to patients regarding DME and gathers necessary paperwork to facilitate billing.
Provide education to patients on the application, use, care and expected outcome for products as indicated by the physician instructions and manufacturers recommendations.
Ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements, standard operating procedures and firm compliance program.
Perform patient/customer scheduling, education, order processing, delivery and courtesy call back.
Comply with all elements of HIPPA, Medicare, Medicaid and other required programs.
Maintain confidentiality and protect confidential data at all times.
Handles customer complains in accordance with company policy and advises management promptly of any situation beyond the scope of his/her authority.
Clean all returned equipment in proper area on a daily basis.
