We are hiring for back office Medical Assistants to join our team in the Peekskill, NY area. We are seeking candidates who are professional, reliable, and match the listed qualifications below.

Schedule:

Please note-- you would only were 8 hour shifts each day so 8 hours between the hours of 8am and 7pm.

  • Monday: 8:00am-7:00pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00am-7:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am-7:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Saturday: 8:00am-2:00pm

Job Title: Medical Assistant

Pay: $18-22/hr

Available Location(s): Peekskill, NY

Specialty: FQHC/Family Medicine

Overview

  • Completes the rooming process and takes vital signs, vision, and/or hearing tests, record patient data in eCW, (laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PhQ, Smoke status, etc.) Document reason for visit and ensure CVR's are completed as needed.
  • Perform in-house labs, perform quality control and maintenance of equipment in accordance with organizational protocols.
  • Draws blood and collects other specimens as directed by providers and processes accordingly.
  • Conducts routine tests in areas such as serology, hematology, chemistry, histology and cytology using standard techniques and equipment. Collect specimens for out-side labs (ex. Pap, cultures, etc.).
  • Prepare exam room and any needed equipment and assists/chaperones during examination and treatment of patients.
  • Keeps clinical area stocked and in good order. Assures that all dated material is kept current and disposes of outdated supplies.
  • Cleans and sterilizes all equipment and logs according to organizational policy and/or manufactures guidelines.
  • Perform basic clerical work in service area; answer phones in appropriate manner, communicate problems/concerns to nurse; handle telephone inquiries.
  • Ensures all appropriate logs are maintained. Keeps records for laboratory tests.
  • Performs EKGs.

Minimum Education Requirement: High School diploma/ GED with Medical Assistant Training Certificate
Preferred Education Requirement: Associate's degree with Nationally Certified Medical Assistant Certificate

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant training program required.

  • Certification: Medical Assistant certification (e.g., CMA, RMA, NCMA) preferred (not required)

  • Experience: Previous experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting preferred. Experience in a FQHC or similar community health setting is a plus.

  • Skills: Proficiency in using EHR systems, strong organizational and multitasking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.

  • Attributes: Empathy, patience, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
