Finish Carpenter - High Quality Residential

We are looking for Finish Carpenters to join our company. Silver Strand, Inc. has been operating primarily in Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties since 1987. Our team consists of three main departments: one fabrication department at our shop in Chatsworth, and two field installation teams, one for cabinets and the other for finish carpentry.

Ideal candidates for this position have:

  • At least 10 years of experience working as a finish carpenter
  • Ability to commute to and from job-sites throughout Hollywood, Beverly Hills, West LA, Malibu and Montecito
  • Personal tool set (depends on experience)
  • Ability to lift and carry typical loads relating to on-site construction operations
  • Ability to operate basic smartphone functions including but not limited to payroll and time tracking applications
  • Works well with others and in team settings
  • A strong dedication to workmanship with attention to detail
  • Awareness of general job-site safety requirements and potential hazards

Examples of Technical Skills that Ideal Candidates Have:

  • Blind nailing, spot shimming, ability to scribe for crown molding and wall base
  • Sizing and hanging of multiple types of doors: interior and exterior, raised-panel rail & style, large-format custom entry doors, both paint and stain grade.
  • Installation and adjustment of the following architectural hinge types: Tectus concealed hinges, olive knuckle hinges, SOSS invisible hidden hinges etc...
  • Ability to identify multiple wood species and differentiate types of cut, ie: Plain-Sawn, vs Rift-Sawn, vs Quarter-Sawn
